The LED does a great job for even light source, but lacks the natural sunlit spectrum.

Actually is has the natural spectrum for north light but not the brilliance of the sun. The 95 CRI is about as good as it is possible to get with fluorescent lighting. It is marvelous. I've never seen any higher than 97.

Doesn't this light ring have the ability to use only either half of the ring? If your orchid is still in bloom, try shutting off one side or the other, or if the ring rotates on the end of the camera, perhaps put the lit up side at either upper left or upper right, as light naturally comes from above, and see if you get a more feeling of form, shadows under the upper curl of the petals. Not having a truly 'brilliant' light, the resulting image may still need to have levels or contrast adjustments to add more visual spark.
