It really doesn't seem to indicate a codec issue. It looks much more like a hardware resource issue. But, if you want to see what codecs are on your machine:

Download the basic K-Lite Codec Pack (You can get it from http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec ... wnload.htm and many other places on the web).

After you run the file you'll find a program called Codec Tweak Tool 5.3 installed on your computer.

Open it and click the Generate Log button. On the next screen, click the Generate button. The program will open a text file listing the codecs on your machine.

Hello,

Just thought I would close the loop on this issue. I met with a person who helps me with tech support, and who had several different machines running in his office. While the results aren't exactly scientific, we found that the file copied just fine, regardless of machine, so the transfer was not the issue, which is what the Apple folks had led me to believe.

On a Windows 7 machine with lots of resources, the file played just fine. On a Windows 7 machine with a slower processor and less RAM (maybe 1 GB), the file played fine.

On an XP machine with a heavy-duty processor and lots of resources, the file did not play properly. It was jerky (even with Quick Time), as on my XP machine. On an XP machine with an older processor, same thing.

Conclusion: there is something that XP and/or its resources, codecs, etc. doesn't seem to like about large videos taken with the 4S. Time for me to upgrade! (or take really small videos with the 4S).

Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

J.

Does the Pentium have a dedicated graphics card, such as NVidia or ATI, or does it have just integrated graphics. I have a Pentium 4 that has integrated Intel graphics, but I put in an NVidia PCI GeForce 9400 GT with 1GB ram. Using Splash Pro EX for a player, I can smoothly play back 1920x1080p 29.97 with h.264/avc video in MOV and MP4 wrappers.
