Deleting Rendered Files - Or Not ?

Postby John Walker » Wed Sep 06, 2017 5:46 am

Hi all,

I use Backblaze cloud storage which is more or less automatic and runs in the background.

When I produce a new project in PRE14 there are often large numbers of rendered files saved to my PC in MPEG format. They add up to a large volume. Backblaze then starts to back them all up which slows my PC down.

I notice that in PRE14 there is the option to delete rendered files either for that project or all projects but I'm wary of clicking in it.

My question is do I need to retain all these 'rendered' files? (and any other advice will be very welcome)

Regards

John

You don't need them. They're just so you can see a high-quality preview of your video you're editing.

Thanks Steve,

I was confused as I used the option under the 'Timeline' tag - Delete Rendered Files for all Projects but they still remained. Nearly 4000 files totalling 130 Gb.

I have missed something or should I delete manually ?

I manually delete the files but only after I have rendered my final project. I typically use a 1 month lag before I delete just in case I need to fix something and re-render the project. This is also a good way to clear up some space on you hard drive.

Thanks Steve and Sidd,

It seems like a manual delete of the rendered files after a delay is the answer.

The option to delete rendered files for all projects is not working (or I've misunderstood something)
