Continuous Rendering

Postby wschumac » Fri Nov 04, 2016 2:22 pm

I just got PE 14 and have done about 3-4 movies using it. Works fairly well, but upon rendering this particular movie which is not too much different than the rest of them, it DOES NOT render into anything. It goes thru the motions of making a "DVD" or an "ISO", but then shows up with an error saying:

"SOMETHING IS PREVENTING A SUCCESSFUL BURN"
Use the ISO image saved at the following location to burn your disk later

C:\documents\ etc, etc <----there is nothing here

I have searched the drive for .iso files or anything and nothing is there.
This has happened with PE 11 as well.

What could be wrong?

Hi Walt,

I guess the first thing I would look for is an abandoned clip way down the timeline, or maybe a gap somewhere. Are you using a new menu template? What is different about this project from the others?

Chuck is right. There are three things that most commonly prevent disc burns:
1) A gap in the video on the Video 1 track.
2) A Stop Marker at the end of the movie.
3) In the program's preferences, the option to use Hardware Accelaration checked when you are using any graphics card other than an Intel HD card.

Thanks for replying so quickly, I appreciate that. I verified the items you mentioned in your responses:

-there are no gaps or extra anything in the video1 track
-there is a STOP marker at the back which shows when the movie ends. Do I not need that?
-the template is the Glass Flowers
-Hardware Acceleration is unchecked.
-nothing unusual about than the other one I did which was similar.

In any event, I wound up rendering it into an .MP4 file, then pulling it into yet another video file and finally rendering it for the .iso.

Anything you could help me with, I'd so appreciate it.

Walt

As I said, having a Stop Marker at the end of your movie will cause the program not to complete a disc burn.

Thanks Steve

I have been using the STOP marker for years and years thought that was the purpose of it, to know where to end the movie. Guess I was wrong on that.
When do you use the stop marker in a movie?

I appreciate the thought you put into this.

A stop marker is used to return to the menu, this is not necessary for the end of the movie. If you want to allow the viewer to play chapters but don't want to allow playing the entire movie. You would place a stop marker at the end of each chapter, except for the last one. The stop marker just tells the player to stop playing and return to the menu.
