Specific to Premiere Elements version 14
by pitaliano » Fri Aug 19, 2016 8:39 pm
Have just paid for an annual subscription.
I've downloaded 3 motion files (vbme0003, vbme0022 and vbme0084). I've extraed the .mov files inside and I can't add them as media into PE14 (windows 10). It acknowledges the .mov file as supported but when I try to add a file, it says "the importer reported a generic error". I've also tried downloading them a 2nd time in case they are corrupt and tried them on a macbook pro which will not open the files either!
This is really frustrating as I've just paid for this and I'm trying to put the finishing touches on a video for dad's 80 birthday tomorrow! Are the files corrupt or am I doing something wrong - codec missing or something??
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
Sorry you're having problems. Could you please post the title of the files rather than the file name so I can find and take a look at the problem files? In the meantime, do you have Quicktime installed? If so, which version?

Hi, Paul. As I responded to your e-mail directly, I downloaded Abstract 002 Motion Element (vbme0003.zip) and extracted the file and it loaded right into my Premiere Elements 14 project (Windows 10).
Can you confirm that you loaded the file into your project using Add Media/From Files and Folders? (Media files are not added using File/Open.)
Also, can you confirm that you have Quicktime 7 installed on your computer, per the program's requirements? Quicktime must be installed on your computer (or at least it components) in order for you to edit MOV files.
And speaking of Quicktime, are you able to open vbme0003.mov in Quicktime Player?

Paul has advised me that he did not have Quicktime installed -- which provides key components for working with MOV files.
He said he'd do so in a few days and get back to us with the results.
