Import ISO file into PRE14 ?

Postby John Walker » Fri Jan 15, 2016 12:11 pm

I have an ISO file of a project produced a couple of years back.

Is there a way I can bring this into PRE14 to re-edit?

I'm thinking I might need to burn it to a disc and import from the disc but just checking if there's a better way first.

That's pretty much what you would need to do.

You can also right-click on the ISO file and select Open with Windows Explorer. This will show you the VIDEO_TS folder, which you can copy and paste to a new location (essentially extracting it). Inside this folder are the .VOB video files, which you can import into your Premiere Elements project.

Thanks again Steve and Bob

Went down the Windows Explorer route and it worked perfectly. I'd never have even considered doing it that way.

Something else learned. :TU:

FWIW, that little trick is in the Muvipix Guide to Premiere Elements 14. ;)

Another thing I've tried with ISO files is - if you have your file extensions showing in windows (such as ".jpg", or ".mov"), then you can rename the file and actually change the .iso extension to .zip. Once you change it to a ZIP file that way, it'll behave like one and you can uncompress its contents to a folder.

...but, honestly, I like Steve's suggestion better. Takes out some steps.

Oh dear - I have that guide and it's brilliant - must have missed that tip. Need another read through.

Even I sometimes learn things re-reading it! ;)

The information on extracting ISO files is in the Appendix, BTW.
