album opening to a page with a photo which becomes movie

Specific to Premiere Elements version 14

album opening to a page with a photo which becomes movie

Postby provlima » Thu Nov 19, 2015 8:43 pm

I have seen an effect which starts with an album on a table, which then opens to a page of a photograph, the photo is zoomed in on and becomes a movie.

Is anyone familiar with this effect, and know of a template special effect plug that can be purchased that can achieve this ???

Thanks for your help!

You can create this easily in a few other programs but Premiere Elements isn't one of them, at least not a plugin to do it automatically that I know of. We have created a tutorial in an earlier version and it is possible to do with a lot of keyframing. Are you new to the program or would you consider yourself an advanced user, or somewhere in between? Do you know much about keyframing?

Proshow has a nice effect like this but that is another program, maybe someone here knows of an easy way to do this in Premiere Elements now :)

Although our "Hot Tips and Cool Tricks for Premiere Elements 11" book shows you step by step how to create that (and 49 other) special effect!

Click on the little movie projector to see a sampling of the effects we'll show you how to create, including that particular one.

And, although the title of the book implies that it's for version 11, the same steps can be used in Premiere Elements 12, 13 and 14 also.

Sorry. I put the wrong link in my post. I've fixed it now.

Anyway, here's the link you should look at. It will show you several tricks you'll learn in the book. The picture-comes-to-life trick is about 2/3 of the way through.

Hi Jim,

What you are describing is actually two effects combined. The first effect, 0pening the album to expose the page with the photograph, is called a page turn. The second, going from a still photo to a movie, is what Steve is calling picture-comes-to-life. Both effects can be done in Pre 14 using just the built-in features and key framing. Picture-comes-to-life is relatively easy to do, but page turn requires more setup and effort -- especially if you have more than one page to turn.

I have not seen page turn templates or plug-ins for Premiere Elements. See this discussion thread for more information re: page turns.
