Re rendering a rendered movie PRE 13

Postby joper » Wed Feb 17, 2016 4:38 am

I have just finished editing my masterpiece in PRE 13. All went well kind-of.

When I re-loaded the movie the next day to continue working on it, I discovered that I had to re render it as there was parts not rendered. I had not changed anything before I shut it down, or when I re loaded it. This happened every time it was re-loaded. I had this trouble with PRE 11, but that was a known bug. Seems like the bug is still there in 13. Anybody else have this happening?

Also I set up a disk menu saved it. All good. Did a burn OK. The next time I did a burn because I changed some clips a little. The menu text was all scrambled. Silly me did not check the menu before burning, so the disk menu was scrambled. #-o
So another bug in 13?? I will remember to check the menu before burning it again.

Windows 8.1

Neither of those are known bugs in version 13, John.

Have you updated to the latest version of Quicktime and ensured you have all of the latest updates to Premiere Elements? Those updates often cure the re-render issue.

Thank you for your reply Steve.

I have updates PRE 13 with all the updates available. And I do have the latest version of Quicktime too.

After playing around with the movie, I found where the un-rendered clip is. It is a short clip where I used the shake removal effect. Every time I load the show that clip it has to be re-rendered. Now I know I can live with it. :)

The disk menu looks like this the next time I load the show.

Trip to Northern NSW
Sept. - Oct. 2015

It should look like this, and does until I close it then open it again the next day.

I use control-m to get the two lines of text. Perhaps it does not like the carrage return?

My first thought would be to try a different font.

I tried a different font and I tried a different DVD menu with a different font again.
Same result.
I would suggest that the
is the return/new line code. But for some reason it is displaying it when re-loaded.
There was a bug with the changing of fonts in the first release of 13, if my memory serves me right. BTW. I have Pre 13.1 (installed the update ).

Your guess is as good as mine, joper.

Unfortunately, it's not a commonly reported problem and I can't reproduce it, so I don't know what else to suggest.

Again thank you for the reply.

All is well as long as I remember to check the dvd menu and fix it before burning.
Once I have a finished copy, I will make an image of the disk.
I wonder if the problem is because I did not d/l the templates to 13. I copied them over from a previous version (11 I think). I only have 8 gigs d/l for month and those templates were very large.

Peace,

That's certainly possible. Although the templates for the last several versions are identical, as far as I know.
