How to Get one VTS file for Amazon requirements

Postby mpastore » Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:58 am

Hello and thanks in advance.
I want to make my video available on Amazon as a digital download.
They require one VTS file only, not many. They say:

We require your source copy to be authored with a single Video Title Set (VTS) and that you place the main feature in one VTS under VTS_01. Discs authored with multiple VTS files cannot be accepted at this time.

Is there a way to do this with Premiere Elements 13 ? ...
When I try, I get more than one VTS files.

Or maybe there is other editing software that can do this, for example, convert from an .mp4 file to the one VTS.

Thanks again,

Welcome to Muvipix.

Do you have multiple projects that you want to add as one VTS file or is it one project?

If it is multiple projects, I think you can create a new project and import each sequence from each project then output as one file. If you can include some additional detail about your workflow it will help folks recommend a solution.

You're thinking Premiere Pro, Sidd.
In Premiere Pro, yes. Premiere Elements doesn't have sequences. You have to export (share) and then import.

Hi again, and it;s nice to get a warm welcome.

I will tell you a little more about my project.
My Premiere 13 file is two tracks, one video and one audio -- each is about 30 minutes.

When I export for publishing on DVD, I get two folders, OPENDVD and ViDEO_TS.

The VIDEO_TS folder contains 6 files:
--VIDEO_TS.BUP
--VIDEO_TS.IFO
--VTS_01_0.BUP
--VTS_01_0.IFO
--VTS_01_1.VOB
----VTS_01_2.VOB

Thanks again for any solutions, ideas, or leads.

We may be into a complete new frontier with this question, guys.

mpastore, can you clarify what you're doing with your video?

Are you publishing it as a DVD so that people can purchase it and download it from Amazon.com via a publisher like CreateSpace? If so, all you need to do is output your DVD as an ISO image file.

Or are you uploading a video that you hope to sell or give away as podcast-style digital download, the way you'd distribute a video or audio file on iTunes, except on Amazon?

Hi Steve ... nice to meet you ... I have your Premiere 13 book on my desk.

Amazon CreateSpace (for video) offers two options:
A) Publish as a DVD, and
B) Publish as a digital download -- when people buy it, they can download it directly and immediately from Amazon's site.

I am not interested in option A) mainly because I can get the DVDs produced much less expensively elsewhere.

The B) option is what I want to do for my documentary film.

However, Amazon has the strict requirement that they will accept only one VTS file.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

According to the CreateSpace submission requirements the source copy can only contain AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. Your source contains an OPENDVD folder. The OPENDVD folder is not needed and may be what is confusing the CreateSpace submission checker. Delete the OPENDVD folder.

The AUDIO_TS folder is missing from your list. This folder is normally empty but is normally included for compatibility reasons -- some older dvd players expect to see it. It won't hurt to add it.

As far as Video Title Sets, your dvd only contains one so you should be good to go.

Just so you know, the files in the VIDEO_TS folder beginning with "VTS_" are your Video Title Set files. The Title Set number is appended after the "VST_" prefix. So, the files beginning "VST_01" comprise the first title set. "VST_02" would have been your second title set but you don't have one.

Hi Bob, and thanks for your message.

I have not yet submitted anything to CreateSpace.

My VIDEO_TS folder contains 6 files:
--VIDEO_TS.BUP
--VIDEO_TS.IFO
--VTS_01_0.BUP
--VTS_01_0.IFO
--VTS_01_1.VOB
----VTS_01_2.VOB

This is what Premiere Elements 13 made for me when I published/exported to a DVD.
The last two files --VTS_01_1.VOB and -VTS_01_2.VOB
contain parts of the movie.

Right now I have 4 VTS files on my list -- and I am allowed to submit one VTS file only.

Thanks,

Michael

I'm getting the idea that CreateSpace just wants an ISO file. Isn't that what you see, Bob?

At least that's what I'm getting from these guidelines.

Steve, yes they want one ISO file ... but I am reading it as if there are requirements for the ISO file.
Here are some of them:

We require your source copy to be authored with a single Video Title Set (VTS) and that you place the main feature in one VTS under VTS_01. Discs authored with multiple VTS files cannot be accepted at this time.
Content must have a minimum run time of 6 minutes.
Your source copy must contain only AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders in the root directory of the disc.
We do not support inclusion of data or executable files on DVD.
In order to maximize playback compatibility, we recommend a maximum total bit rate for the combined video and audio tracks of 6.5 Mbp/s (megabits per second).
We recommend using Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio; however PCM and DTS audio are also supported.
We accept discs up to 4.6 GB in size.
Only single track DVDs are supported at this time.

I would just submit an ISO file and see what happens.

The only other thing I can see is that they want a DVD with no menus. Or at least no sub-menus.

But definitely in an ISO format.

Michael,

Your dvd does meet the one VTS file under VTS_01 requirement. A Video Title Set is not just a single file, it is a collection of files. That's why it's called a "Set". In your dvd, the title set consists of all the files that begin "VTS_01" including all the ".vob" files. CreateSpace isn't telling you to only have one ".vob" file, it's telling you to only have one VST and that must be VTS_01. You did that.

It's normal for a VTS to have more than one ".vob" file. DVD authoring applications typically divide the video content into approximately 1GB vob segments. Depending on the data rate and compression, that's roughly 15 minutes of video per vob. This is not under user control.

The only thing I see that you must do is delete the OPENDVD folder and prepare the iso file. Do you know how to do that?

Hi Bob
I read your message and then suddenly the "Aha!" moment hit me.
Yes, I can use my Mac's "Disk Utility" to make the ISO.
I will delete the OPENDVD folder.

I just have one more question:
From these files (listed below), should I delete the first two ( --VIDEO_TS.BUP and VIDEO_TS.IFO)
and then include only the 4 files that begin with VTS_01 ?

--VIDEO_TS.BUP
--VIDEO_TS.IFO
--VTS_01_0.BUP
--VTS_01_0.IFO
--VTS_01_1.VOB
--VTS_01_2.VOB

Thanks again
