cropping the video picture itself

Re: cropping the video picture itselfYou can use CTRL+Z (Undo) to remove the changes one at a time and revert back to the original or you can remove the clip from the timeline and replace it with the original again. You can easily move and position the clip in the Monitor window just by left click and hold on the clip, then move it anywhere you want and drop it there. I don't know of any feature or button that will center a clip automatically, at least not that I can think of. Maybe Steve knows of a way ...

Re: cropping the video picture itselfThanks. It would be a neat feature if you could just make it really centered with just a click. Maybe not really important if they don't have it yet.

Re: cropping the video picture itselfWell, in a high-def project, you can just type in the position 960 240, of course.

Re: cropping the video picture itselfSo in mine, 960 and 540 put it center after I play with it, but that centers the entire video, not my cropped area. Well, at least I can put the full picture back exactly where it started at any time after I crop and move it. Thanks!! Learning lots here and appreciating your help immensely. How do people find out these things if they haven't used the program for ever? Even the book doesn't have all this in it! (Or at least I haven't found it.)

Re: cropping the video picture itselfThere's one other option that might be simpler.
Disregard manually centering your video in the Motion effects. Go back to the Crop effect and check the Zoom option. This will cause the video to expand and center to fill your video frame as you trim off its sides. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: cropping the video picture itselfExcellent Steve, not sure I knew about the Zoom option

Re: cropping the video picture itselfSteve, finally got a chance to play with the zoom feature. Problem I am having is that there is nothing to keep the proportions so it distorts it to make it fill the frame. The constrain proportions is clicked in the motion effect. Is there a way to keep it right using this zoom?

Re: cropping the video picture itselfOnly by manually setting the crop settings so that the width and height are cropped to the same proportion.
