Other menu making programs |

It seems that 13 is working well for me except for the menus. I have heard that there are other programs out there that burn DVDs and make menus as well. I can't find a menu function on ImgBurn. Does anyone have suggestions for a good program just to add the menus? It makes more sense to me to go with a small cheaper (free?) program to do that than to try to change to 15 when we have so much done in 13 already.

You are correct - ImgBurn is solely for burning completed projects and it does not have any "further editing" functions. A lot of folk here on Muvipix used DVD Architect which was originally a Sony product but Sony Creative Software has since been acquired by Magix. |

Although it's no longer updated, DVD Architect Studio is the only program I use outside of Premiere Elements. Its capabilities serve my needs very well. Steve wrote a book on it, which is exactly what it took to get me started. I can tell you that it works with Windows 7 through 10, but I don't know if it's still being sold and will register. I've had it for many years.

I'm such a fan of DVD Architect Studio that I wrote a book on it! (You'll also find lots of tutorials for it on our site.)
The bad news is that the less expensive "Studio" version of DVD Architect isn't available from Magix. The good news is that apparently they're selling the "Pro" version for a mere $99! http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/dvd-architect/ CyberLink makes PowerProducer. I've never used it, but I do like how well everything CyberLink makes works. The challenge is that fewer disc authoring programs are available as standalone products now. Most are being bundled with other products. Roxio and Corell sell very nice DVD authoring programs -- but I think they too are only available bundled with their video editing apps. Meantime, I've not worked with any of these, but it might be worth playing with these free disc authoring apps and see if they do what you need. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content ... ftware.htm |

Steve, not to hijack the thread, but I was wondering how the DVD Architect "Pro" version features compare with the Studio version. Would there be a compelling reason for someone like me who still uses discs to move to Pro while it's still available?

For $79.99 you can buy VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Platinum, which includes DVD and Blu-ray disc authoring software -- the studio version. But then you can upgrade to PRE15 for about the same price.

Dave McElderry wrote Steve, not to hijack the thread, but I was wondering how the DVD Architect "Pro" version features compare with the Studio version. About the only feature that the Pro offers over the Studio version that I ever used was the ability to use alternate Audio tracks - Useful to make a commentary or similar. I think (although it's been a long time) that you can control some of the DVD scripting as well in the Pro version. |

Pro does include alternate audio tracks (support for several languages). It also includes optional subtitles.

Thanks for the input everyone. Not sure what to do yet, but we'll have to do something...

Chris and Steve, thanks for the additional info re the differences between Studio and Pro. The link to the Vegas page was also useful. Probably not worth the money for my purposes. Too bad they don't offer an "upgrade from Studio" price. I might go for that.
