Streets of San Francisco

Postby sidd finch » Fri Jan 22, 2016 2:31 pm

I was inspired by Steve's car chase scene to post a video of a drive through San Francisco a while back. Since Bullitt was filmed there I thought the music choice would fit.

Some of the sights:
St Peter & Paul Church - The church where Joe DiMaggio & Marilyn Monroe were married in 1954
Telegraph Hill - Coit Tower built in 1933
San Francisco skyline - Golden Gate Bridge
Transamerica Building - Tallest skyscraper in San Francisco
Financial District
North Beach - The Italian section of San Francisco
Alcatraz - Prison home to Al Capone
Russian Hill - Lombard Street the most crooked street in San Francisco
Candlestick Park - Former home to the San Francisco 49ers now demolished

Love the music and the editing is spot on. Just when I was wondering where the time-lapse was it showed up, nice job Sidd :TU:

I love this, Sidd! It paces so well with the music!

About 7-8 years ago, was got the chance to visit San Francisco, and it's one of the few places I've been to that was every bit as amazing as I'd dreamed it would be. I rode many of those same streets -- on a rented bicycle, no less -- specifically looking for scenes I'd recognize from movies.

I ended up actually pushing my bike up a couple of those hills, but it was one of the most exciting rides I've ever taken.

Thanks Steve & Chuck.

Steve you must have some pretty strong legs to bike San Francisco. In our travels through the city, there are some hills that require a quick time out and catch your breath half way up the block.

But it is a pretty amazing city. There is so much history especially film history that it is cool to see the sights and relate them back to their movie. Having driven some of those hills I can really appreciate the driving Steve McQueen did in Bullitt.

Thanks for the tour Sidd. Well done! The time lapse at 1:50 with the guy running was a nice twist. I was in SF in 1975 for the day. What I noticed about the video is that streets are so clean. The music reminded me of the old detective TV shows, maybe Sunset Strip? ::CLAP:

Thanks Mom.

The music is called Shifting Gears from the movie Bullitt. I do agree about the general cleanliness of SF. But to be honest we did not drive through areas like the Tenderloin that are quite a bit grittier.
