Some underwater video fun

Postby Gerlinde » Sun Jun 07, 2015 4:38 pm

Used my GoPro for the first time under water. Actually, I gave the camera to my granddaughters to have some fun in the pool. This is also my first video edit in Premiere Pro. I had used the song Groovin', by The Young Rascals, but Vimeo caught me and did not let me upload it. But I guess this song works too.
There are so many videos on Vimeo with original music as sound track, I wonder how they decide who gets to upload and who doesn't. :-k
But anyway, I hope you enjoy my video :)

Gerlinde, very nice editing and song choice. In other words, it was cool. It would be a nice day to go swimming, but the water is boiling.

Summer swimming is always a blast. I liked the group jump into the pool. Good video, looks like everyone had a good time.

Fun fun Gerlinde! Your grand daughter was cute waving at the camera underwater. Looks like they are old pros handling the GoPro. How do you like PrPro so far? The first thing I noticed when I got PrPro and liked, is when you move clips around the timeline it doesn't automatically close gaps. That drove me nuts in PrEl with things sliding around. The workaround I finally used in PrEl was to put black matte on track one for the entire length. My short 3 min videos I edit and then swap clips around many times, re-edit, re-edit, re-edit.

About a year or more ago Vimeo said it was cracking down on music.

. The girls had some video and editing training during their summer camp stay the last 2 years. But kids are picking up new stuff so easily anyway. At least the girls are, my 2 grandsons are a different story :-D .

How do you like PrPro so far?

I like it a lot. I signed up for the Adobe CC. I think it is a great deal to have all the apps for $30 a month. But it is kind of overwhelming, so much to learn :-8 What I miss are all the presets available in the non-pro software. To make the title for my movie I used Pinnacle Studio. But I have figured it out now to make a title in After Effects. It just takes all so much longer right now. I have a year to find out if it makes sense for me to have the whole suite, then the price will go up to $50 a month. :-k

I understand they have to, and I would not use copyrighted music in a video I'm payed to do.

Lots of fun had by all, Gerlinde. Thanks for sharing with us.

I thought you guys were in a drought. Aren't you in California? Filling swimming pools is okay? I hope it isn't as bad as the news says.

Paz, you are correct, we are in a major draught here in California. We have been for years, but now it's official. :conf:
As to the pool, it came already filled as my daughter's family moved into the house. They cover it when not in use, to keep evaporation down. I don't know how hard it is now to get a new pool installed. So I guess, I will never get one at my house :(
Every household is required to conserve 20% based on their prior use. I think that is not really fair. We have always conserved water and our water bill is really low. It is going to be difficult for us to save another 20%.

The drought is pretty bad. Up in the north they are calling for a 30% reduction. I have even seen on the news that one county has a permanent 8% rate hike with a 20% reduction that includes some steep penalties for going over quota. They are about ready to roll out the "turn in your neighbor" when you see water waste. Until we get some rain to fill up the reservoir's things will only get worse.

Great video Gerlinde! Using a GoPro underwater is fun. Now, if only I could get Joey the Boxer to jump in the pool with it on!

Lovely.

I've heard, once, that zero reservoirs have been constructed in California in the last 50 years or so while the population has boomed. Is this correct?
