File Size when adding slides to PRE12 via Proshow Producer

File Size when adding slides to PRE12 via Proshow Producer

Postby Walter Seaton » Fri Oct 02, 2015 4:21 pm

Steve's Guide for PRE12 emphasizes the need to reduce the file size of still images to less than 1000x750 before adding them to a PRE12 project. I often construct the equivalent of a slide show from slides using Producer 7 before adding them to a PRE12 project. I do this by creating a MPEG-2 DVD NTSC 4x3 video file in Producer 7 and then adding it to the video media in the PRE12 project. Two questions: 1. Is it necessary reduce the file size of the originals when used this way? 2. Is there any other way of doing the same thing? I much prefer the versatility of Producer 7 over any of the ways of creating slide shows in Elements.
Many thanks.

Once you output your video from Producer 7, your slides cease to be individual photos. They're now video. So it makes no difference what size the original photos were.

And, if you're happier with the way Producer 7 creates slideshows, then definitely use it rather than Premiere Elements. There's no crime i using whatever the best tool is for your workflow.

I make my slideshows in Producer 6 where my photos are reduced to 2000 x 1500, as Steve advised in his books, for AVCHD. My output from Producer, as I live in Europe, is a 1920 x 1080 50p file which I import in Premiere Elements 13. Here I use the preset PAL AVCHD 1080p50.
