captured viddeo on Panasonic GH3 camera where to send it?

Postby runnig4 » Sat Sep 05, 2015 10:41 am

Good morning everyone

I am new to using video camera to capture video. I have bought a GH3 DSLR camera. I read in the muvpix book there were various ways to capture it
into premiere elements 12. I am unsure which section i should use. Is it Digital still Camera and other portable devices, this would seem to be the best
option.

Any help and advice would be welcome

Welcome to Muvipix, Olly! And thanks for supporting our book!

As it says in Chapter 5 of the Premiere Elements book, the best way to get video from a DSLR is to plug the camera into your computer with a USB cable and the, in Premiere Elements 12, select Add Media/Video from Flip or Cameras to open the Video Importer. (Make sure your camera is turned on, of course, and set to Play)

In the Video Importer, select the clips you want to add and then click Get Media.

BTW, have you checked out our free 8 part Basic Training for Premiere Elements tutorials? Part 2 demonstrates how to add media from a camera or camcorder.

If that doesn't work, just take out the SD card and copy its files onto your computer using a card reader, then import into Premiere Elements.

Hi Steve

Thank you for your reply, i am wondering if you get any sleep answering quesstions on the various forums. When reading the section you have
mentioned when i came across the word Flip camera i thought well my camera is not a flip camera and tried one of the other options which
mentioned DSLR but to no avail.

Many thanks
Olly

Yes, the "Flip" listing under Add Media is confusing -- especially since the company that makes Flips went out of business about three years ago. I'd expect that Adobe will eventually update this Add Media listing to something more relevant.
