Different Go Pros shoot different formats and resolutions.

If you open one of the MP4s in Media Info or G spot what does it show for resolution and audio and video codecs?

If you've got the latest version of Quicktime, Premiere Elements 12 should be able to work with Go Pro footage.

What operating system are you on?

they were shot in 4k....

they open fine in Quicktime but only come into premiere elements as an audio file no video.

Sorry. I know of no reason you can't edit these video in Premiere Elements.

Although I'm no expert on 4K video. I know that Premiere Elements supports the XAVC version of it, but I don't know if it can edit whatever Go Pro 4k is shooting.

Anybody else have any experience with it?

well after some Google searching I have learned ...

I needed to install the GOPRO Studio software (free on GOPRO site).
Within GOPRO Studio I needed to convert the GOPRO (MP4) file to AVI and then I was able to import the avi file and play it within Premiere.

still looking for an easier way to do the convert.
If I find one I will update this post.

I would of thought Premiere would be able to handle it just like Quicktime....

4K requires a lot of system resources to process. Premiere Elements 12 does require conversion of GoPro 4K. I'm wondering if that is because it is still a 32-bit program and may not be able to access sufficient resources. PowerDirector 11, for example, supports 4K -- but only in the 64-bit version. Another month or so and Premiere Elements 13 should be out, it will be interesting to see what Adobe has done with it. FYI, I can use GoPro 4K files directly without conversion in Premiere Pro CS6.
