Moving Video Clips from One Project to another Project

Postby MP#$864zz » Tue Oct 18, 2016 12:35 am

Hi

I am a New subscriber to Muvipix.

I have looked in Steve's Book and can not seem to find what I need.

I made a project Video with several test Text Titles to learn how to do Titles.

Now that I have one I would like to use in A Project Video.

I have not been able to drop the Title into a new Video.

I thought I would be able to just COPY and PASTE into the New Video.

Did not work How do I do this Task

Thanks Fred

You need to export a title from Premiere Elements to a file in order to use it in another Premiere Elements project.

In the Project Assets panel, select the title you want to export. Choose File > Export > Title. In the export dialog, specify the name and location for the saved title file, and click Save.

To use the title file you exported in another project, you need to import it. Open the Project Assets panel. Right click on the panel and select Get Media From > Files And Folders. Select the title to be imported and click Open. Once in the Project Assets panel, you can place the title on the timeline.

Here's the official Premiere Elements 11 help file entry:

ExportTitle.JPG

I don't have Premiere Elements 11, but I've verified that the listed procedure works on an earlier version. Also, I use Premiere Pro CS6 and it works the same way in that. Exporting titles has been pretty consistent across all versions. The only time that I get Export grayed out is when the title in the assets panel is not selected. The title must be selected in the assets panel. Selecting the title in the time line alone does not enable export.

If you are following the listed steps exactly, it should work. If not, I don't know what's happening. It should work. Please try again. If it doesn't work, take a screen capture showing the item in the assets panel highlighted with the File menu open and post it here. Maybe someone can spot something.

Hi Bob

Thanks of the Reply.

Most of the files would Export OK.

This One File F B END Credits would not.

The only difference is it has no Audio Track .

Why would Credits Require an Audio ? ?

I will try to Post screen grab as requested.

How do you draw on a PS Pic ? ?

Looks like that's not a title that you have selected. It's a video clip.

Titles with roll or crawl enabled will show up as video clips in the asset panel. But, they are still titles and can be modified like a title and exported as a title. So that alone isn't it. However, it is acting like a video clip instead of a title -- Export would not be enabled for a video clip. Likewise for the audio -- a title wouldn't require audio.

If you place that title on the timeline and double click on it there does it open up in the titler?

Hi Fred,

Do you have one of Steve's books or have you watched any of our tutorials? It would be best if you added a screen shot of what you are referring to above please :)
The adjustments can be different depending on what you open, title, video, still image, audio, .... A picture (or screen shot) is worth a thousand words :)

When the adjustments panel opens do you have access to the Animation tab and do you have access to the Text menu options?

I noticed that when I apply an animation to a title in PRE11, that the title looks like it is selected in Project Assets, but the File > Export is greyed out. Then if I click on a different asset or on an empty space and then come back and click on the title, the File > Export menu item is then available. So in some cases PRE looses track that items are selected, and that means if it's a title, then PRE won't set a flag that Export is enabled. In my humble opinion -- a bug.
