No volume on narration track

Postby Doug Valdez » Tue Jun 03, 2014 2:49 pm

Hi, I am recording narration on a video and the sound is muted when I play the video on the timeline? It was working fine earlier? When I double click on a specific track and open it in the editing window it works fine. Any suggestions? :conf:

Check the volume in the effects panel.

Also, be sure to unplug your microphone from your computer so your operating system can reset to your regular audio configuration.

If that doesn't work, please give us more details about your operating system and your microphone as well as what you have and have not tried (eg, restarting the program after unplugging the microphone, rebooting after unplugging the microphone).

Hi All,

thanks for the suggestions. I looked in effects under channel volume and I guess I am not sure what to look for there? The sound waves in the narration track are light grey as if they are inactive? When I double click on a narration clip, it plays fine in the small preview window. I am not sure if I accidentally muted my entire narration timeline somehow or what happened. I unplugged my mic, restarted and plugged in the mic and tried again, still the same problem? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Doug

If the name of the track is dimmed in the timeline, you may have disabled the track. select the clip. Bring up the clip menu. There will be an "enable" option. If there is a check mark in front of the Enable option, everything is fine. If there isn't, the track is muted and you need to click on enable.

If the track is selected, bring up the effects panel and check the volume controls to make sure you haven't set the volume too low.

To add to Bob's excellent suggestion, right-click on the narration clip to bring up the options to enable or disable the clip.

If that doesn't work, please post a screen capture of your timeline to this forum so we can have a look at things.
