Formatting for Smugmug

Postby mfl1 » Fri Aug 02, 2013 10:12 am

I would like to upload video files to Smugmug, but I can't figure out how to format them. Smugmug says that it prefers a .mov file with the h.264 video codec. Audio should be AAC 128kbps (stereo or mono only, no surround sound). When I go to the Publish & Share button in PRE 11, I see an option for creating a quicktime video, but I don't see reference to the suggested audio setting.

I also note that Smugmug suggests a program called MPEG Streamclip. I assume that ouputting in PRE, if I do it correctly, would obviate the need to use MPEG Streamclip.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Unfortunately, that article is a bit dated.

For version 11, I'd use Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD with the preset for YouTube -- either the SD or HD, depending on your video.

This will create a great-looking mp4 that should load perfectly to SmugMug! (Don't worry about the MOV thing. An mp4 is essentially an mov file, even if it has an mp4 suffix.)
