How to set default project settings

Postby robbie410 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:48 am

Hi, can somone please advise how to set default project settings when starting a new project. By starting a new project, my settings goes automatically to NTSC. As I am in Europe I want to set the setting to PAL. Rather than having to go to "Change Settings" everytime, on drop down window, I would like to set some default settings so that my most common settings are a default.
Have tried to find a way to set a default settings but so far have not managed. I guess that as PE11 changes the settings according to the first clip put onto the Timeline there maynot be a facility for this but just in case I missed somethning, my question+

Go to File/New Project and manually select your project settings, Robbie.

Once you've done that, those should become your default project settings.

Though, you're right, the program will still automatically adjust these settings, based on the first clip you add to the timeline, unless you select the option to Force Settings on the New Project panel.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year. Could you please help with Project settings, New Project. I was of the opinion that the project settings took settings from first clip when starting a New Project. I notice that although my first clip is MOV the settings set state HDV. Should I change this to QuickTime or just leave as HDV or even DV.

Sometimes Premiere Elements has problems reading the file indicators on MOV files. So you may well have to manually set up the project.

Thanks Steve. I have been working with pre 12 for a while now and never really looked at the Project Settings anymore thinking it set itself. Most of what I had been using ad base video was mov. With the Project Setting unknown, I guess HDV must have been used and I did not see any consequences.
From you comment about setting, Settings, manually I guess there must be some visual benefits. I will change settings to QuickTime in future or if the files are old video converted to possible DV, then use DV.
