Firewire to USB 3.0?

Anyone having luck capturing from a tape base DV camcorder (firewire out) to a PC without Firewire orThunderbolt. Only have USB 3.0 on laptop.

USB has a completely different spec than Firewire. They are not wire-compatible, or even signal-compatible. Don't even try to use one of those wierd firewire to usb adapters. It won't work and you'll risk damaging the firewire port in your camera. Those adapters are used for devices that are actually USB but the manufacturer used a firewire socket instead of a USB socket.

There are firewire cards for laptops. Do you have an expresscard slot?
