MEP 17 plus effects

Postby Gerlinde » Tue Feb 15, 2011 1:32 am

I found this review of Magix MEP17 plus online

MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus includes following NewBlueFX plugins:

Diffusion from Video Essentials III gives a soft glow or otherworldly aura to images to create a mood or look.

Film Look from NewBlue Film Effects modifies color and lighting to reproduce the look of a specific film stock such as Kodachrome or 28 other looks.

Noise Reducer from Video Essentials II removes unwanted noise from footage, useful with old analog video or scenes shot in low light.

Pixelator from NewBlue Video Essentials replaces an oval area on the screen with large colored blocks, obscuring the underlying image.

Rack Focus from Video Essentials II creates an artificial focus blur that mimics camera depth of field.

Spotlight from Video Essentials III provides a versatile way to bring focus to subjects and apply finishing touches such as background blur.

I have not been able to find any of these effects. Could anyone with MEP17 confirm this? I downloaded all the additional content available, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. :?:

I didn't get free NewBlueFX effects with my purchase of MEP 17 Plus Download version, but NewBlueFX made some of their effects compatible with MEP 17 Plus. Maybe when MEP 17 Plus was first introduced they offered some NewBlue effects for free. They certainly weren't offered after the introductory period on the US site.

There is one plug-in that is or was free, but it didn't come with MEP 17 Plus. I downloaded it direct from NewBlueFX. That was the Cartoonr.

I saw the same article about MEP 17 containing newBlueFX plug-ins on the NewBlueFX web site. However, on the Magix web site it does not say it comes with NewBlueFX plug-ins. It only says it is compatable with them.

They did have a deal about a month ago which included a NewBlueFX package, but as far as I know you can only get that deal when offered.

I have not purchased MEP 17+, and I have no intentions on doing so. However I already own several NewBlueFX packages which I use in PRE and found that the latest update from the NewBlueFX site contains plug-ins for MEP.

According to the NewBlueFX web site. the plug-ins are now compatible with MEP starting with version 17.

I however had already owned 2 NewBlueFX plug-in packages, Video Essentials 1 and Video Essentials 2. NewBlueFX came out with an updated plug-in for MEP. I installed it and it works great without issues with MEP16+. I have since purchased NewBlueFX Video Essentials 4. These all work great in MEP16 +. And it comes with plug-ins for PRE9 as well.

There is a free effect that RJ mentioned available that works with MEP, the Cartoonr. You can get that from this link:

I did download the free Cartooner, and I could bite myself now that I did not buy a bundle as they were offered cheaper back in January.
NewBlue has at the moment the art effects bundle on sale, but that's not quite what I want. O well, I just have to be patient. [-(
