Re: MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 17 PLUS releasesSony Vegas Pro 10 comes out on the 11th with 3D video support. Saw a webinar yseterday where they demo'd the new features and 3D video editing.
Re: MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 17 PLUS releasesI'm certainly not ready for 3D video. I haven't even made a Blueray disc yet.
I also don't think there are too many people who own 3D cameras. It is nice there is something available to edit 3D video with, but for me it is not one of those "I got to have that " features. I am happy with MEP 16+ and am also planing on purchasing PRE9.
Re: MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 17 PLUS releasesI was trying out MEP 17 Plus to test smart rendering of AVC files, but I couldn't get it to work. And smart rendering for an AVCHD disc produced no better video than PowerDirector, blips and all around transitions. It's really going to depend on what camcorder you have, so you need to give MEP 17 Plus the acid test.
I'm saving my money for an upgrade to Sony Vegas Pro 10.
Re: MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 17 PLUS releasesI decided to give the Movie Edit Pro 17+ trial a whirl.
Let's talks about features first. There is a new effects mask that allows you to add effects to certain parts of a video. Nothing you can't do in Premiere Elements using Trac Matte, but there are a bunch of pre-set masks you can use. You can also use your own masks. This can also be done in past MEP versions using chroma key, but you need to use your own masks. The interface layout is almost exactly the same as MEP16+. They got rid of the record tab and buried all the different record options in the file menu. I think that was a mistake. The rest of the layouts is exactly the same. They did change the fonts to be bolder and easier to read, and also made most of the pop-ups match the rest of the program. The performance of this program seems to be worse than MEP16+. I do have a low end system however. There are those on the MEP forums that claim that performance is greatly improved. If you are interested in this program, download the trial and see how it works on your system The big feature of this program is 3D editing. It is worth checking out if you are interested in that feature. Overall, for 2D editing, it did not feel like an upgrade from MEP 16+at all. Maybe if you come from an older version it may be worth it. My advise to me is, save your money. Go with Adobe Premiere Elements 9 instead.
Re: MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO 17 PLUS releasesThanks for the review, I think I will skip this upgrade.
