Magix Movie Edit Pro 16

Postby silverfox13425 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 4:13 pm

My friend and I both have MMEP16 which we got to use mainly to make AMVs (Anime Music Videos). Originally we were using Windows Movie Maker, but we wanted to get something more advanced to play with. We were going to get Sony Vegas but Best Buy didnt have that. MMEP16 is all they had. WMM has this awesome thing it does in which it automatically breaks a video into scenes when you import it. I know you can make your own scenes out of videos in MMEP16, but is there a way to have it break a huge video into smaller bits on its own like WMM does? It'd be so much easier since the anime Im working with now has episodes 1-7 into one giant file. Even to separate the episodes in WMM is difficult since I'd have to save each scene or episode seperately and export it then load it into MMEP... Which would just take more time then I have. And even if I were to do that, I'd still have to break them more inside MMEP anyway. Is there any simpler way to do this???

I also tried copying the broken scene I wanted to use and then pasting it into MMEP but it just told me the clipboard was empty. ><

Hi Silverfox and welcome to the forum :meet:

You did not tell us what video format your footage is in. I have MEP16plus, so it might be different for your version. Here is what I found in the manual:

Image

I don't really understand your last sentence, how exactly are you trying to copy and paste your clip?
A) i7-3930K 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo), 32GB DDR3-1600, SSD 256GB, 2x1TB+2x2TB Seagate Barracuda (72krpm), Geforce GTX 550 Ti (1GB), Win10 Pro 64-bit
B) Sony Vaio i7-3632QM,12gb DDR3-1333MHz, GeForce® GT 640M LE (2GB), 750GB (7200rpm), Win10 Pro64-bit

Make sure to select the option "Save Scenes as Takes." That way you won't have to run scene detection again in other projects, you can just pick indiviual scenes from the Takes folder.

My videos are all .avi! I had to convert them from .mp4s. >.>

Uhm, in WMM I right clicked the broken scene I wanted to used and clicked copy then in MMEP I right clicked and clicked paste. That's what it is. I dont have the plus version but I looked into what you told me. Thank you. :D

I don't think you can copy and paste from WMM into MEP. The way it works is, you need to open your broken scene in MEP and bring it into the timeline. Then you highlight the clip and copy and paste. So I'm still not clear what you are trying to do. Can't you just cut out the broken scene from the rest of the clip using the razor blade?

You should be able to import mp4 video, at least I'm able to. But you either have to activate the mp4 codec or it might not be a feature of your version. I had to activate the first time I wanted to export a mp4 video, it opens up a link to the Magix website and you have to sign in.

Okay, Ill try to explain the best I can.

The video Im trying to break is episodes 1-6 of an anime. Thats a half hour per episode, so 3 hours of footage. In one video. When I brought it into WMM, it took a half hour to break down the scenes of which now I have 3 hours of broken down footage. There is one specific scene I am trying to get out of all that, which I have in WMM. I can right click and copy that one scene, but if I try to paste it into MMEP it says my clipboard is empty. I know I could export that one scene and open it into MMEP but Im trying to make an AMV and I dont want to have to do that over and over and over again. Also, using the razorblade has the same problems.

Better?

Yes, better :-D

I'm afraid you are out of luck here. As I said before, you can't copy and paste from WMM to MEP. Your best bet will be to export the scene you are interested in from WMM. There is a utility called Clipmate, which some people here use to copy and paste in PRE. I don't know if it will allow you to paste between applications, but that might be worth a try.
Other than that, my only other suggestion will be to start over with MEP and use the scene detection feature.

Maybe someone else comes along with some better ideas :(

You can't use Clipmate to copy/paste from WMM to MEP. There's private data involved that MEP wouldn't understand anyway.

Yeah, I was afraid clipmate would not work for that. I have never used it my self. I just did a search for a "video cutter" and came across these 2 programs ( both free :-D ) ),they might be an option.

I wonder how the new clips will be saved, does it involve any re-encoding/re-compression? :-k
