Sony Picture Motion Browser

Postby John Callahan » Thu May 14, 2009 3:10 pm

Hi,

With Sony Picture Motion Browser PMB all the video is broken up into Highlight thumb nails. If I want to upload my AVCHD files with PMB 10 mins of the 30 mins of video to youtube , my problem is it up loads as is "clips". And in my case is a few just for the 10 mins of video .How can I collapce to be one clip and get the same results through PMB?

I dont have it on this computer but I thought there was an editor where you can join and cut clips. It is late here now, I will check in the morning.

OK, I looked at Sony PMB and unfortunately all you can do is edit videos... ie cut them up, you can not join them. Therefore you will need to use PE7 to join the clips and export them using the H.264 1080i preset. Note however they will be recompressed. Currently there are few editors that do not recompress AVCHD. The newly released Sony Vegas Pro 9 can, bot PE7 can not.

I know some people have had some success with Panasonic cameras in doing a binary copy from the command-line.

Someone has now written a tool to do this:

Not tried it myself but it would be worth at least trying it out to see if you have any success with a Sony camera.
