Only a black image!!! the video is huge and I must deliver it today! I can't do it all again! my codec collection is updated and the images where captured from a minidv cam in .avi I tried to render it i all video formats and didn't worked!!!

I've had a problem inputting avi direct from camera to Vegas, no picture ... if you run them thru VirtualDub first, save as avi, and run THOSE to Vegas, I bet it works.

Virtualdub will convert the file to a 'Real' AVI file that Vegas can actually use

but the project render the video with a black screen on stretched parts! Won't it stay black?
I captured some parts of the video in Mpeg-2 an re-edited just the stretched parts! IT WORKED, but the image got poor! I need it to be High! Is it a codec problem on .avi format? how can I fix it? my codec pack is new! just downloaded it 3 days ago!
thanks for all the help

You can not salvage the black frames and it is probably not a codec issue. To get a good quality video in the stretched region you really need to use DV-AVI as your source material. Can you not capture as DV-AVI??? If not try converting the clip to DV-AVI before stretching. Both MPEG and DivX are compressed formats that will give issues while editing and reduction in quality after rendering because of the compressed format.

sure I can convert or capture as DV-AVI! but I already did it!! the original video is DV-AVI and the hole video is DV-AVI too, only the stretched parts is in Mpeg! My problem is that in avi format the stretch parts render as a black screen!
thanks!

There are many different types of AVI... DivX is highly compressed format for video delivery, not for editing (same as MPEG). Dv-AVI is the AVI format you get directly when capturing from a DV camcorder and is designed for editing. Which type of AVI is it? You said "... burned it on a DVD and I had to re-capture from it with dvdx"... I assumed that was divx.

duuuuuuuh!!! finally understood! sorry about that! its in divx format!
I'll try to convert it to DV-AVI the image will be bigger so can I expect vegas project not to recognize the archieve and have to re-edit it all?
for example: the video is with the name "raw". If i convert it to DV-AVI it will take more space but take the same time... can vegas use it anyway to fill the edited area in the project?

In Vegas I have replaced files on the timeline after having converted the format of the original file (from one AVI codec to another). So I converted the file and placed it in the same folder as the original. I renamed the original file and named the new file the same as the old one. When you open Vegas it will use the new file.
