Hi all,
I was shopping for the Canon HV30 video camera in the Expo and met with 2 distraction.
Distraction Number 1: One salesman from Apple told me that majority of video editors are using Mac's system instead of Windows OS. He said that I can also use Sony Vegas if I purchase his iMac. Is the look and interface of Mac's Sony Vegas the same as the interface of Vista's Sony Vegas ?
Distraction No 2: One salesman from Sony told me that Sony's High Definition tape video camera is better than Canon. Is that true ?
Thank you

It is my opinion (and my experience) that any salesmen who is employed by a specific company will always tell you that their product is superior - they have a vested self interest.
AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.

Hi Ryan, I totally agree with John regarding salesmen, no salesman is going to tell you their competitors product is better.
. Regarding your specific points - Vegas is not compatible with MAC OS. - Quality of picture wise it would be difficult to get better than the Canon range of HV20/30 camcorders. Just to let you know i am a Sony Camcorder guy... only cams I use, mainly because of the build quality. But most people agree the HV20/30 are difficult to beat in terms of picture quality. One really BIG downside to Sony HDV cams is that they can only use Sony brand batteries.. if you use a any other brand they will give a warning message and shutdown... so you have to pay full whack for batteries... no Ebay generic brands.

Thanks Paul & John for your response and reply.
I am surprised actually to note that Vegas is not compatible with Mac. How come Sony Vegas does not have a Mac version ? Is it because Apple only want you to use Final Cut Pro on their system ?
Thanks

Hi all Sony Vegas experts,
My sister gave me a video file. I tried to load it into Sony Vegas but Sony Vegas cannot recognize the file. The file is in .flv
What format is that ? Sony Vegas cannot handle .flv ? How to convert this format ?
Thanks

Again, Ryan. It's best to start a new topic with a, uh, new topic.
The FLV is a Flash file. In your new thread we can discuss how to convert it into a file Vegas can edit.
