Blender, 3D modelling or graphics

Postby GerryB » Thu Jun 30, 2016 5:08 am

Good day all,

Blender, no, not the one for the smoothies!!

This one.... It is free!!
https://www.blender.org

I have been looking for way to explain some of the nuances of the Laws of Rugby for a while and recently I came across Blender and decided to have a go. I have looked at a few videos on the web (that tube thing) but most assumed a level of knowledge that I do not have, so I went looking for books and I came across this https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro which seems to suit my learning style.

I have decided that I needed a character (attached) to use as my learning model and I found this marketing gimmick from a few decades ago. John Mac may remember them in the pub back in Cheshire! Got to be careful, a well known drinks brewer are IP owners, I guess, of the model, so I won't be replicating him!

Anyway I have a character, a book and an interest.

I am wondering how many other members will be tempted to have a go and perhaps there can be a 'bit of a show' in a few months time.

Gerry

Blender has always been one of the best values on the web. So thanks for the tip, Gerry!
