48 hour film project

Postby Chuck Engels » Tue Mar 23, 2010 9:56 am

I saw something about this on TV this weekend
http://www.48hourfilm.com/

The show was specifically about the Atlanta 48 hour.
http://www.pba.org/programming/programs ... ta/48hour/

One of the things that I really like about this competition is that they set certain parameters.
Like each contestant must use the following in there production;
Must include a Woman in a Blue Dress
Must include the line "I know we can do it".
Must include a man doing jumping jacks.

Things like that are required for everyone to use in their production.
Then they assign each contestant a genre, like; Horror, Suspense, Cowboy Musical, Comedy, ...
No one knows what genre they will get until just before they start production, then they have 48 hours to put together the entire movie.

I think we could use some of these ideas in future Muvipix contests, sounds like lots of fun :)
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Similar to this one Chuck, which is hosted every year by the film studies course at my kids' school in West Vancouver: http://www.zoomfest.com/?page_id=2

It is a great concept, and the productions are usually quite remarkable. A huge amount of learning goes on.

Yes Rusty, some of these are simply amazing, what some people can do in 48 hours.

There are links to some of the videos if anyone wants to see what kind of stuff they come up with.
