Out of the loop

Postby Chuck Engels » Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:51 pm

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I have been missing the past few days, our internet connection has been down.
AT&T has had a major breakdown somewhere and we have been without internet for over 48 hours now.

I have been connected a few times today on my laptop with a very slow Sprint aircard, so replies have been few.
Should be back to normal sometime tomorrow I hope :)

Chuck is one of those guys who takes his laptop on vacation. His idea of relaxing and enjoying the holidays is working on the Muvipix site.

Hope you're back on line soon, Chuck!

Yeah, I think most of us have been out of the loop for about a week and a half. Of course I'm out of the loop most of the time. I'd be pretty upset if my cable Internet service was down that long. RoadRunner used to have dial-up service that came free with broadband, but they discontinued that a while back.

I'm back online, the service was restored last night about 10pm.
That was over 48 hours without internet, too long for me, I started having withdrawal symptoms !!

AT&T has promised to credit the internet bill for the 2 days the service was down, that's about $3.
Wow, what do you think I should spend it on? Maybe I can use that to sign up for Vonage or Comcast internet and phone service :)

Last winter our power was off for 3 days and internet service was out for 8 days due to cable damage.I was OK without power, since we have a generator.
But without internet I was having mental issues
Glad you're back online Chuck.

It used to be that I would have a half day or longer outage at least weekly with a very liberal sprinkling of 2 or 3 day outages. Outages of an hour or two occured almost daily. For the past year, Verizon has been installing FIOS in my city. Now, my cable company has improved it's uptime reliability, the daily outages are gone and it's been months since I've had a half day or longer outage. What a coincidence. However, the bandwidth is still pretty poor for broadband. Some days, the connection is so slow that it might as well be out. My part of the city is scheduled last for the FIOS implementation. I'll be interested in seeing what type of offer Verizon makes us when it's finally available. ;)
