Muvipix 2009 - Minneapolis in September

Postby Chuck Engels » Mon Apr 13, 2009 8:57 pm

It is a good possibility we will be having a Muvipix get together in Minneapolis in September. We would maybe meet at the Mall of America, not sure yet. We will be staying at a campground in Apple Valley on the south side of the Twin Cities. Possible dates are the 8th, 9th, or 10th. If anyone is interested in joining in please let me know :)

Sounds like fun to me! There are 3 birthdays in my family at that time, but hopefully I'll still be able to make it.

Nifty!! I just discovered this area of the forum and love it! YES, I would LOVE to attend a get-together. I'm fairly new to muvipix so I've never heard of one of these before - I was actually thinking of suggesting this a while ago...but my thought was we all meet in Montana, around Butte, so we could head off to Yellowstone and/or Glacier for some shooting and then reassemble to share what we captured. Trust me, I'm familiar with Minneapolis/Bloomington/Apple Valley and Montana is SOOOOOOOOO much better. :)

What actually happens at one of these get-togethers?

We don't know because we've never done this before :)

I only picked Minneapolis because that is where I will be with my family and we have a fair number of members in the area. We are certainly hoping that we can do other get togethers in the future after we see how this one goes.

Well count me in. I'd feel like I actually took a vacation - all without leaving the "Twities" (I just coined this name for the Twin Cities - pronounce it like "twitties" - hahahahaha).

We "locals" could come up with a list of possible photo ops (not to include Air Force One flyovers!!!) for anyone not familiar with the area.

You know if you can't make Minneapolis in September, Donna and I would be happy to host one here in the Houston area just in time for the hurricane season! :yh:

Ok, the plans are getting finalized for this September :)

We will be in Wisconsin Dells on Labor Day Monday September 7th, then on to a campground (Lebanon Hills RV Park) Apple Valley, Minnesota for the 8th, 9th and 10th, leaving on Friday the 11th. We would be happy to have a get together any of those days. We could meet at the campground (where there would be possible swimming, if the pool is still open then, and other activities) or at the Mall of America, Hotel, a restaurant or park.

Those that are interested please speak up with what you think would be a good day, time and place to all get together :)
Muvipix will be happy to supply some food and rent a spot if necessary so it doesn't have to be cheap and free, be creative.
The folks in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois are close enough to make the trip if they have time, the more the merrier !!!

Let's plan something really fun :yh:
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
