The Wikipedia offers this explanation of DVD storage capacity:
"A DVD+R is an "optical disc with 4.7 GB (4.377 GiB) of storage capacity (more precisely, 2295104 sectors of 2048 bytes each). It has slightly less storage capacity than the DVD-R (4.382 GiB)."
"A gibibyte (a contraction of giga binary byte) is a unit of digital information storage, abbreviated GiB"
What the heck is a GiB and is it relevant to my life?
Does this mean DVDs can't really hold 4.7 gigs of data but, rather, more like 4.3 gig?
Thanks, guys. I figure if anyone in the world would know, my Muvipix friends would know.
