Private messages in outbox?

I tried to send you a couple of private messages but they just sit in my outbox. Is this normal?

I'm glad you brought this up, Jennifer. I've exchanged a couple private messages, which seemed like they just sat there for the longest time, and I wasn't sure whether or not I'd done something wrong. But when I came back in later, I could finally see they had been sent.

Unlike email, the private messages stay in your Outbox until the recipient opens them, then they are removed from your Outbox.
If you have messages in your Outbox then it means they have not been opened by the recipient yet

So rather than glaring at the Outbox, mumbling who knows what, I should just get on with my day
