SkreemR

I was looking at web 2.0 sites, for ideas on modernizing the applications where I work, and came across this excellent mp3 search site. I love the design, which is simple and clean. But the site irself is excellent. You can listen, download if you want, link to youtube videos, link to flikr photos, or link to buy from Amazon just about any artist you can think of. I think it's a great site for sampling music before you buy. http://skreemr.com/

I put in "Jesse Malin" and found a great live version of "Since you're In Love".

Very nice links here -- but are these bootlegs or legit downloads, ed?

It looks like a little of everything steve. Of course as the saying goes "download at your own risk". I'll just use it for sampling purposes mostly.

Some of the links are to sites that have been closed down, others are definitely bootleg/pirate sites, but a great resource for sure.

That makes sense because most of the links seem to be from music blogs, which often only leave links active for a short period of time. I did find some Marshall Crenshaw alternate takes that were from a musical instrument site, although there was no link to the files from the site itself.

A site I like for creative commons music is http://www.jamendo.com/en/. I downloaded music (instrumental tracks) for my 2008 Easter peeps video last night and I can use, share, and modify it legally as long as I give credit to the artist. It's a great resource, but you have to check the CC type for each album individually.

Just wanted to thank you again Ed :)

I have looked everywhere for Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne by Looking Glass and found it at SkreemR!
One of my very favorite bands and songs of all time.

I haven't heard that song in forever Chuck. Reminds me of listening to AM radio at the pool house when I was a kid. Have you ever heard the cover of this by Josie Cotton?

Yes I have heard the cover, but you are right about this song bringing back some memories from days past.
I really wish Looking Glass would have stuck around, not everything they did sounded like Brandy.

OMG - I remember that song Chuck. It's funny how songs remind you of different events and times of our lives. Some of my favorite songs would definitely not be remembered as the best in the world but they just remind me of a good thing. Or they just make me smile - like Hermin's Hermits' I'm Into Something Good. In the car ya just gotta sing it when it comes on.
