Should I change from cable to FIOS?

Should I change from cable to FIOS?Verizon has just installed fiber optic in my neighborhood and they're offering internet and TV for about the same price as Comcast with a 5Mbps download connection and 2Mbps upload. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to switch and if it's really better than a cable connection.

Re: Should I change from cable to FIOS?I'm not sure if it is better or not in reality, but one would think that fiber optics would be screaming fast compared to cable or DSL. Your download speeds are OK. My service is Wide Open West, and I get 4MB/Sec download and Comcast in our area will offer 6. But your upload spead is very high. I only get 450kb/sec on upload.

Re: Should I change from cable to FIOS?I would sure love to have 2mb upload speeds, that would be great

Re: Should I change from cable to FIOS?I imagine it would be better at first because there would be less users in the trunk.

Do they keep users in the trunk? That is what we used to do when we tried to sneak people into the drive in movie 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: Should I change from cable to FIOS?Back to being serious...
My daughter in NJ went with Verizon FIOS and is VERY happy. Phone, TV, Internet all work great, and their internal "network" seems to be much smarter than my Time Warner stuff here. For example, I have two DVRs and can record shows on each one. But I can't view something recorded on the other DVR. But my daughter can! You can view a recorded show from any DVR in the house - they just send the data over the internal network. Also check out bundled deals on cell. Bob Bobby (Bob Seidel)

Back to being silly .. I was thinking something along that same line, Chuck .. just drew a blank when I first read that line. OK, so I'm a little slow today
Re: Should I change from cable to FIOS?LOL. thanks for everyone's input. I'm glad to hear about your daughter Bob. I would have definitely switched over if I could have included the cell phone service but I'm stuck with T Mobile for another year unless I break the contract. I still don't know what to do for now. When I look at my connection speed with Comcast, it keeps saying 100 Mbps. I could up it with Verizon but, of course, that would raise the price. I'm also concerned, as Ed pointed out, that with more people, things will slow down. Desicions.....
