All the Disasters...

Talk about anything here.

All the Disasters...

Postby Paz_Pazzaz » Thu Dec 07, 2017 6:58 pm

Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Fires...

They never end. So much property destroyed, peoples' hopes and plans, lives and future no longer on track, or worse. I often find it difficult to impossible to read the "news." I expect many of you feel the same.

Still no power in much of the Caribbean, people moved off of islands where they have lived for generations, that couple who survived fire in northern California by spending the night in a swimming pool. They lost everything they owned and so did some of their relatives. The 30 or so horses burned alive in southern California, maybe yesterday. And in SoCal it continues with a young man saving a wild rabbit.

Sidd is in northern California, Bob is in southern California... others here may be near previous extreme or future extreme disasters. Even though we don't often mention politics and/or bad news here, I know we all have to deal with it. I don't understand why things work as they do. I've been guilty of thinking, 'if I were God, I'd like to have it be different'. But who am I to say such things? Do I put my soul in danger for even thinking such things? I don't know. I don't think anyone does.

To all who may have been affected, smelled the smoke, been burned, or out in the roaring winds and rain of the storms, good luck. If I could change it, I would.

I think it only makes you human to think those thoughts. If thoughts like those put anyone's mortal soul in danger we'd all be lost. Amen to your concerns Paz. I'm sure we've all been disturbed by all that's happening in the world.

The only problem with living in the information age -- with access to so many frightening images and fast-coming, detailed reports -- is that it makes the world seem like a pretty frightening place to live.

In times of great distress I always come back to Johnny from Airplane who was able to add some levity to a dire situation.

!!!!!!!!!!!! Sale at Penny's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, sort of like, maybe PreEL 2018 might work??? and we've had SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, yeah. I'll take that into account. I do my best to keep that evil djinn, Desolate Depression, corked up in his bottle, but he's sly and knows all my tender spots. When helpless animals face pure and total terror, that's when he's most likely to take me down.

Life goes on for those still living. Still, wish I may, wish I might, then I'd have had it happen differently.

Thanks, guys, and know that when disasters strike near you, it's not that we're not thinking of you when "live in the forum" seems to go on as before, with no mention.

Good thoughts, intentions, and deeds have ALWAYS made the world a better place and at least to me are always appreciated. Thank you.

Now what was that about the extra 30% off the Liz Claiborne Long Sleeve Knit Robe??? :hyst:

Gee, Sidd. Somehow I never pictured you in a Liz Claiborne robe.

Now, if I were :c5: , I'd have something more like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6 ... X60QPU6KTG

on my list for you. S'pose I'd better double check those reports from the elves more carefully! :fg:

Well said. I saw an interview the other day of an author about his new book. Forgot the title, forgot his credentials...I think he was a retired actuary/scientist...anyway his book is how much better off the world is now than 100 years ago. Fun facts type of book and really puts things in perspective about dental care, medical care, life expectancy, access to basics like water. The examples in his book are world stats too.

It has been a heartbreaking year of natural disasters for the US and it's territories.
