Talk about anything here.

OK Steve, here's a funny question. I remember several years ago when I kept hearing this loud breaking glass noise I had to laugh when I finally discovered it was the breaking Christmas bulbs along the top of my screen. Now I see them again for the holidays but I no longer hear the breaking glass sound. I thought I seem to remember something about how you could disable to sound if you wanted. Under the personal setting I see where you can remove the Christmas lights but I don't see anything about the audio. Have you removed the sound completely this year? Just curious is all. Mike

This is actually webmaster Ron's work, MrG. So I don't know about the actual programming.
All I know is that the crashing sound is loud and clear on my computer!

No, there's no separate setting for the audio. Not sure why it wouldn't work by default on your computer (I'm sure you have your sound turned up). And, just so everyone knows, you can disable them via the following link, if desired: ucp.php?i=165

What type of computer are you using, Mike? And, which browser? I don't have a solution -- just curious.
I've noticed that using my Windows desktop PC, I get the bulbs and the sound. But, using my android based phone or tablet with the Chrome browser, I get neither. I can request the mobile Chrome browser to give me the desktop version of the site pages and that gives me the bulbs, but not the sound of the bulbs breaking; I get the audio when playing video clips so my phone and tablet audio is on and working. Makes me think there may be something going on in the particular version of the pages being served to your computer or possibly something with the browser. Have you tried a different browser?

I was using an old Vista laptop (don't laugh, the epoxy is curing on my old Windows 7 laptop) with an old version of Chrome (which is no longer supported on Vista) this afternoon and didn't have the sound. Then all of a sudden the sound started working when breaking bulbs.
It's going to take me forever to pick out all of those pieces of glass from behind the monitor.

It could be a FireFox issue. I just logged on with my new laptop and I get the same thing with it. I'm also running FireFox and Windows 10 on it also. Audio is working fine on both of them for anything else. It's no big deal, I was just curious is all.

Bob, Definitely a FireFox issue. I just logged in with both of my computers using MS Internet Explorer and I can hear the breaking glass sound. Strange, but PROBLEM/ISSUE SOLVED .

I just checked my FireFox and it's supposedly the very latest at build 57.0.2, In fact I just rebooted and upgraded from 57.0.1 and still now breaking glass audio. I get the same results with my new MSI PC running Windows 10 Home, Intel Core i7-7700HQ, CPU@2.80GHz, 16GB Ram and a GeForce GTX 1070 video card. I don't need the breaking glass sound. This post was just a curiosity is all so please don't anyone take it that I was complaining.

Try right-clicking on your volume icon in the system tray and selecting "Open Volume Mixer" and see if Firefox is muted.

Mine looks just like yours, not muted here and not hearing anything.

I have same settings as Ron, no bulb breaking noise. (Except I have one Firefox volume not two) I do get sound on everything else, like youtube videos for instance.
Not using latest Firefox as it disables some of my FF Extensions.
