You don't know how fast I'm going downhill Chuck! I looked in the mirror the other day and there was this old man staring back at me. Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

I had to resort to Lexan mirrors. Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographersThere was a 'sunset' 360 degrees during the totality. Yes, someone left their car lights on!

Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographersYes, colors are great but where's the moon?
Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographersNice sunset, Mom!
Maximum was a little less than 90% here. The light began looking strange but I decided it was because the sun was behind clouds. Didn't pay much attention to it. But after a while I came in to check out times here. Previously, I'd only looked in South Carolina. Turns out it was already in progress, so I wasn't wishful thinking it, the light really did seem a little on the purple side! I went back out to work in the garden and then, Mr. B surprised me with a cardboard box "viewer, pinhole camera, camera obscura", I'm not really sure which definition is correct any more. Earlier in my life I would have known. Now I guess I don't care enough to look it up, I just know...it worked!! I took some video of the crescent inside the box and the crescent shaped shadows cast by the sun peeking around the moon. I'll try to post soon. It never did get dark here. Just sort of like a cloudy day with purple-ish clouds. I've often been under heavy thunderstorm clouds that made it much darker. I don't think the birds even noticed and they are usually pretty observant, bluejays especially. Whatever you do, don't set your coffee cup adjacent to your turps cup.
Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographersGot quite dark here, about an hour north of us was total darkness for about 3 minutes.

Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographersWe made it to Douglas WY in the end - and it was fantastic. Beautiful clear unobstructed skys. My children found the experience awesome. Lots of "first timers" there some of who had driven half way accross the US. We're still out on the road at the moment. When I get back to Blighty next week I'll see what I can share.

Re: Aug_2017 Solar Eclipse Info, esp for photographers
I was so excited about the colors 360 that the moon was secondary. I did not have appropriate gear to get eclipse shots and figured there will be a ton of those shots anyway. A St. Louis camera store had several rentals come back with damaged sensors. aka Cheryl
