Specs for running Camtasia

Postby Matthew Max » Sun Jul 24, 2016 2:06 pm

Hi, amigos. Are the specs of my client's computer good for using Camtasia to make five- and eight-minute mp4 videos?

That should be plenty of power for running Camtasia, Max.

Camtasia takes very little power. So it kind of depends on which program you're using Camtasia to record. As long as your computer has enough power and RAM to run both Camtasia and the program you're recording, you'll be okay.

I've recorded Premiere Elements on a Windows computer with similar hardware specs to this second Mac with no problems.

All the tutorials Chuck and I create for this site -- as well as the courses I record for lynda.com -- are recorded with Camtasia.

Is there much difference between the Mac and Windows versions of Camtasia? I would like to see a list of the differences so I can get my client set up. I use Windows and he uses Mac computers.

Thank you, John. This is good to know. I'm glad my client doesn't think in terms of capturing keyboard input and screen drawing, because this comparison chart you sent me says Camtasia for Mac doesn't do that. And I was planning to show him how.

I would wonder if the graphics memory on either of those machines is enough to run Camtasia. I have had issues trying to capture with less than 1gb of video memory.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
