Black Friday Quadcopters

The Phantom 3, "Standard" quadcopter, with integrated 2.7k camera and gimbal, can be had in several places for around $600. It has features that really look cool on the DR3 Solo,

"Follow Me, Waypoint Navigation, and Point of Interest. Follow Me mode trains the aircraft to automatically follow its controller. Waypoint Navigation mode allows the pilot to set up a custom route for the Phantom to fly while the pilot controls the camera. With Point of Interest mode the pilot can achieve cinematic shots by choosing a point on the map for the Phantom to circle, while the camera stays centered on the selected point."

and at this price is about half the price of the Solo with gimbal. The Solo still needs a camera.

All the Phantom 3s (latest three models) have integrated cameras and gimbals. Earlier Phantoms using GoPro cameras have not always been able to communicate via wi-fi to a smart phone or tablet due to conflicts with the signals. The 'Standard 3' with integrated camera is supposed to be able to stream the video via wi-fi without problems.

If interested in purchasing, I'd suggest adding propeller guards to your order. Mincemeat should be reserved for pies!

I think this might be the year of the camcorder drone in my house, Paz. Though I'm going to keep it under $100 the first time out.

But yeah, it's kind of a shame the Amazon drone doesn't deliver itself. That would be a real selling point!

If you already have a camera B&H is selling the Phantom 2 v2 for $448 USD which is a pretty good deal.

Instead of "not a cloud in the sky" we may say one day, "not a drone in the sky." :(

How long until someone invents a cheap transmitter to scramble the drones' brains and make them fall out of the sky? Or start hacking them to hijack them into dropping their load in undisclosed locations? Or to fly into the side of a building?

Hi,

Having seen a programme on the BBC (in UK) where a 1yo baby lost an eye because a friend did not control the quad correctly and flew it too close to the family I am left wondering how much public liability insurance costs to fly a quad!

I'm not a kill joy, I would like one as well but......
