I'm sure there'll be other deals as we get into the holiday season. I'll try to post as I learn about them, hopefully with a little more advance notice.

The one on Newegg doesn't seem to be a educational version but it's not clear as there is zero description of the product. What is missing in the educational version?

No features have been left out of the educational version. The serial number does identify it as an educational version though. The educational version is discounted and proof of qualifying student or educator status must be provided to Adobe.

The Newegg offer is for the standard version. The educational version would be marked "student and teacher".

I'm curious about Adobe stuff..are elements as good as Premier itself? What would the difference be between Elements and the regular program?

There are a few threads about Premiere Pro vs. Premiere Elements somewhere on these forums, but the single most important difference to me is sequences in Premiere Pro.

...and if you had ever used PrEl versions 1 or 2 the transition to PPro should be relatively straightforward (emphasis on relatively).

The user interface of those versions of PrEl was quite similar to that of PrEl but there was still some learning to do after migrating to PPro.
