Re: Shotgun Microphone Shootout II (Worst)Ah! Now I see! (said the blind man). (My Grandmother used to say that all the time!)
I was in the camp of 'not much difference'. Now I see I need to listen for hissing and spitting of 'S' s and 'Z's! And yes, I hear it now. The blurb the lady is reading is full of 's' beginnings and endings. Probably for good reason. I thought I should be listening for background noise, volume levels, etc. I DO wish the test had been done with all the microphones set up at one time and only one reading. Seems like it would be a more fair test. Thank you! Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Shotgun Microphone Shootout II (Worst)Worst is a relative term. Pretty much all of these are in the acceptable range. But, listen to the timbre of her voice, there are differences that will make some mics more pleasing to some people and less pleasing to others. For example, compare Microphone A to E. These mics are both from the same manufacturer but they sound quite different. A has more bass and less treble in the voice while E has less bass and more treble. A might be quite acceptable, even desirable, for a man's voice, but, to me, it doesn't sound natural for a woman's voice.
Re: Shotgun Microphone Shootout II (Worst)Another to add to the group. Mine. How is it? I honestly don't know except that it is better than anything I've been able to do with my prior microphones and I've had several of them.
