Yahoo Dumping IE?

Postby George Tyndall » Sat Feb 21, 2015 12:10 am

For many months, Yahoo has been recommending that I switch from IE to Firefox.

Tonight, could not get onto Yahoo with IE -- but Firefox no problem at all.

Anyone other members having this problem?

Is IE working at all for you George, or is it just when you try to get onto Yahoo? There's an issue with an NIS update last evening that's causing IE to crash.

The NIS issue has now been resolved with a new update.

You know the reason Yahoo is dumping IE don't you? They have made a deal with Firefox to have it always default to the Yahoo search engine.

I'm wondering how Bing wound up the starter on my Firefox. I guess it can't stop occasional hijacking huh?

I hope it will allow you to change it if you want to. I used Firefox for a while but eventually settled on Chrome for 99% of what I do.

I'm back to normal now -- because I've updated NIS?

Which leads us back to my original question. If IE wasn't working at all, the answer to your question is probably yes. If only Yahoo wasn't working, there's probably another reason.

I can't say, Dave, as I did not attempt to visit any other sites with IE.

When I saw that I could not view my Yahoo Home Page with IE, I opened Firefox instead and went about my business.

In that case I would really suspect that the problem was NIS.
