Although Seagate branded I believe that the adaptor is generic having just power and SATA connectors and therefore compatible with all HDDs.
If I recall correctly Chuck has used a similar setup for some time now (?).
Recent articles in the computer press suggest that HDDs as we know them will likely be superseded in a couple of years time by high capacity and cheap (compared to today's prices) SSDs.
