I put this up once before, but I've completely changed the approach and added some stuff. Critiques welcome, it's the only way I'll grow. Thanks. :)

Thanks Bob for always being there. Should I have only copied part of the line. I'm going to do this again if I don't figure out the proper way of setting that up.

I don't remember how you entered it before. I think you had https instead of http (which it needs to be) and the address wasn't in the long form needed by the forum software to display the video. Generally, when you watch the video, the long form address will be in the browser address bar where you can copy it. Don't use the link you get if you click share, where the site address ends in .be instead of .com. That won't work. Here's what it should look like after you add it to your post:
Code: Select all

Depending on how you got to the video on youtube, it might not be in the long form. In that case, simply copy the movie identifier code (DOxLLaku3FI in this specific case) and enter the link address by hand using the format shown.

This is a nice looking promo, Buddy! And an interesting service.

About the only thing I might suggest is showing more examples of what you can do beyond the class reunion footage. Maybe some clips from a family reunion video, a vacation video, a memorial video, etc. So we can see the full range of your services.

It might also be smart to include some examples of special effects you can add. Before and after or then and now photos or video, for instance. Or stylish graphics and titles. Just to demonstrate that you do more than just cut and assemble their video.

But I think it's a very interesting service! With everybody shooting video on everything from camcorders to phones and iPads, there ought to be a market for someone who can make sense of it all1

Steve, thank you so much for your sage input. I really hadn't considered some of the things you mentioned, and I guess I will begin doing another. My only concern is time. Folks bore easily, so I don't want it to be too long. At the moment it's a little less than 3 mins, and it probably should not be much longer. I may shorten the reunion presentation and include things you mentioned. You've just opened up an expanded world for me with your thoughts. Thanks again.

I think you're on the right track Buddy. I agree about keeping it short. Maybe less text/reading time and more quick examples of your finished product? Best of luck with what you're doing!

Grin Media! Love the name & animation at the beginning. What is the Delco Productions? That is confusing. If Delco is the person you did the editing, maybe at the beginning say that here is a presentation we did for Delco productions. I would keep the font and color the same through out the HS reunion to match the Delco productions (or take Delco Productions off).

The ending text I would suggest to use a texture background that is subdued instead of the plain color. I would also reduce the amount of text and maybe a fade in of bullet points. The ending could sum it up with a motto of "You Shoot & We Edit". I would use black text and a font that is easier to read. On each slide at the ending you could place your Grin Logo in the corner.

The pace and voice over was very good.

Cheryl, glad you chimed in..thank you so much. Good points, as for the type I usually use Arial. For one thing it's easy to read. Delco is the guy I did this for, and the idea of me alluding to that is well taken. Type-wise you're right on that; will remember next time. This cowboy more times than not shoots from the hip and I don't remember what I used on each of the two styles. I'm going to have to get myself together a little better in the future. This is one thing that happens when you get in a hurry. As for the end I thought about putting the logo on each slide, but then I just didn't, no excuses. This was most helpful. Again, I appreciate you more than you know.

Font, font, font is my downfall. I over-think which one to use. When I am working on a project, I use a legal size paper that I jot down the font along with other things like the name of each segment, the length of each, music used, etc. I also jot down how many copies I made and sometimes print out the DVD insert to staple to the note sheet. Those notes are kept in folders by project or sometimes if they are little ones, then I place in the yearly project folder. Big projects such as slideshows have their own folder. I print out a pdf of the photos and check off as I use them, which segment and note any titles. In After Effects there is no check mark for used items like there is in Premiere Elements or Premiere Pro. It is just easier for me to look at the print out for reference. If a project has a lot of footage I will write up a log and star system with a brief note of the scene to see which clips I plan on using or not. I've gone back several times to look at what font, graphic, texture or music I used in a previous project since I don't archive all my projects.

Much improved over your earlier opus. My only 2 cents would be to e see if you can include some testimonials of folks who have tried the service.

:-5 Good idea sidd, gratsi. I've gained more out of this session than I expected. I've just begun to start on the next one. It may take me a bit longer as it will be quite a bit different than this one because I've gotten so much good input from you guys. Y'all (that's my Texan coming out) are the greatest! :)
