Windows Update has put checkmarks by both in the Recommended category.

I asked this once before; the reason I am asking again is that I now have a functional version of Rollback-RX installed, so I'm feeling braver in the event I have a problem.*

P.S. Bob, the upgrade to NET 4.5.1 that you advised in an earlier thread seems to have caused no problems, so far.

Yes, 11 has a new, wonderfully clean, uncluttered interface that is so much easier to use. It's strange. Less clutter, but everything is right at hand. I much prefer it to either 9 or 10, and honestly, to Premiere Pro 6 as well. Yes, Pro can do much more, but Premiere Elements 11 makes it easy.

In my experience, the more Microsoft improves the security in Internet Explorer, the clumsier it gets.

I've got the latest Internet Explorer. But Chrome is my default browser. It's rare I even launch Internet Explorer.

Sorry, George. I've been trying to cram some perlscripts into my cgi bin since last Friday afternoon and it would seem I have scrambled eggs for brains.

I haven't used Internet Explorer in many, many years. The only time I used to open it was when I wanted to run a virus scan that would only work in IE.

I use Mozilla Firefox for web surfing and Thunderbird for email.

Firefox: If you go to a site you haven't visited in a while and cannot remember your password:

Tools> Options> Security> Saved Passwords> Show Passwords> Are you sure? > Yes... collect your password, then HIDE Passwords and back out.

Thunderbird: Any email that is suspect:

Right click on the email without opening it> View> Message Source

Then you can read the email safely. Yes, it is in HTML, but skim over the HTML and you will find a section that consists of the text of the message and decide if it is safe to open.

Perhaps other browsers and/or email programs have these two features, maybe something better. If so, I'd like to know.

The right click doesn't give me that option, but it works from the menu bar.

Interesting. Windows Update on my system still has IE 11 unchecked.

I've been using IE 10 for a while now. Seems to work well for the most part. Some sites will not display video unless I turn off tracking protection for that site -- that's how the site is coded. Some sites don't recognize that I have Flash installed unless I turn off Active X filtering for the site. Hasn't really been much of an issue.

IE 11 is the the most standards compliant browser MS has produced. That's a good thing. It's also one of the fastest browsers available. But, there have been some issues on Windows 7 including some Flash problems and blurry fonts. I don't know if that has been corrected yet.

I've thought of another reason I use Firefox. It has color management for web surfing and with my wide-gamut RGB monitor I really need it.

After reading that: I rechecked and sure enough the check mark was only for IE10.
