What PRE version do I need to edit mp4s...

Talk about anything here.

What PRE version do I need to edit mp4s...

Postby George Tyndall » Sun Oct 06, 2013 3:37 pm

... assuming that they are in fact editable?

My Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone creates videos in the mp4 format. The 32GB card has about 24GB available after deducting for etc., etc, etc., which means I can create about 40 minutes of continuous HD video (600MB/4 minutes).

After downloading them to the machine in my signature, can those be edited with PRE, and if so, which version would be best? Will my preferred version, PRE7, do the job?

:tx:

P.S. ATT makes me pay $20/month for data that I do not ever use. I use the phone only for talking and photos/videos. Do all carriers require one to pay for data even when one never downloads any?

:tx: again

I don't know about other carriers, but Verizon certainly does. Just the inclusion of a smartphone to your plan incurs the $20.00 additional cost, plus a set charge for whatever data plan you choose. I think the minimum is 500 MB per month, and costs $10.00. Add other smart phones (wife, kids, dog) and it's an additional $20.00 each.

To edit MP4s, I'd recommend either version 11 or 12 -- though possibly version 10 can too, using the Flip Mino HD project preset.

Earlier versions, including version 7, don't handle non-camcorder footage nearly as well.

I'm already using PSE11, so PRE11 seems the logical choice.

Thank you.

To my great surprise, I tried the attached settings, and PRE7 handled the task, as always, perfectly.

Also, CORRECTION: 24GB/600MB per 4 minutes = 160 minutes, not 40 minutes
