Talk about anything here.

Well after almost 13 years I will be changing jobs. A few months ago I was approached by a company from the U.K. interested in hiring me. Everything has worked out very well and I start working for them on Monday. It's sad leaving the place and people that I've worked with for so long but it is a good change and it is a job that I am really going to enjoy. I was not expecting to have to leave the country as they have 4 offices here in the U.S. that I will be working with primarily. Last week I was told that I may be expected to go to the U.K. in March, either there or Chicago they aren't sure yet which one. So I quickly applied for my passport which I have never had and have never left the country except to go to Canada. If I end up flying to the U.K. I am really hoping to be able to meet up with some of the great folks that I have met through this forum. Paul, John, Bill, Chris, UKPal, and all of the others

I'm assuming you will be working with their supply chain software. Is that correct?

Thanks Donna and Peru Bob, Yes. They are implementing the same software that my previous company implemented last year. I was the project manager for that and have the experience that SBS was looking for. It is a good fit and that is just my first project, they have a few things planned for me over the next 5 years or so

If you are visiting the UK, Chuck, just remember two things:- 1) We drive on the correct side of the road (all other countries, bar one or two exceptions, have got this wrong) 2) [Joke on] We speak a different language. For example:- a fag in the UK is a cigarette, the pavement is a footpath by the side of the road, a trunk is something for travelling - not the thing at the back of a car; that is a boot, if you ask for a restroom you will likely be directed to a bedroom; ditto if you ask for a bathroom you will be directed to a room with a bath which may or may not have the thing that you seek. We call ours either lavatory (posh) or just plain toilet.....etc. [/Joke off] If you do make it over here be sure to let us know. Good luck in the new job.

And if you do come over make sure to bring an umbrella... and a warm coat. It will still be cold and most likely wet!!! It doesn't really get warm here until the end of August and then starts getting cold the beginning of September...
