looking for examples of hv30 videos

Postby videovillageidiot » Fri Aug 03, 2012 8:28 pm

i found a camera store that has a used hv30 for 399. i'm wondering if that's a good price (the condition is listed as "Excellent ++" which is shy of "amost mint" and "mint").

also, i know many muvipixers use the hv30 and i'd love to see some samples of their videos to get an idea of the quality.

Thanks!

That is a $750 HDV tape based camcorder, I have the HV40 and love it. If you are looking for a tape based HDV camcorder you can't go wrong getting that camera at that price :TU:
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

I use a HV30 & HV20.

This one has been over color corrected with MBQL and is HD:

This one was shot in HD, downconverted to Widescreen SD from Cam to Computer and only slightly color corrected with MBQL:

I think you will be very happy with the HV30 and that is a good price.

Cheryl, when you say color corrected are you talking about saturation, or other color adjustments? I'd like to see some straight video that hasn't had anything done to it if you have anything posted.

I'll see what projects I still have on hand. Would a split screen be good? One side straight and the other with adjustments?

One thing to keep in mind is when you see really great color video, that person has done some adjustments. I am not implying that my color adj. video is all that great, I just mean in general. The one thing that I notice a lot on Vimeo is in the video descriptions the person generally states in what program the adj. have been made.

For my HV30 videos that I burn to DVD in WS look much better on the TV than a file that has been compressed for Vimeo.

I'd just like to see what it does on it's own. Preferably in sunlight in an auto mode so that white balance is less of an issue. So what kind of adjustments are we talking about?

Here are some frames. You'll have to overlook the interlacing, but this gives an idea on the color.

This video has test shots of the HV 30. On the video page is detailed info on each scene.

Cheryl, thanks for the links to your videos…the water one was beautiful — and much sharper than anything I’ve gotten with the hfr300. What values did you use to create the file you uploaded?
The “hv30 out of the box” was great. that hv30 does a very nice job.
I did take a look at the used hv30. I even shot some video with it. Oooops…I took the tape home and was going to capture it, using my std def optura. Yeah…it can’t play the hd video. looks like I’ll just have to buy the camera to test it!! Haha.
