Re: portrait vs cine mode

Jayell, I don't have experience with the Canons, but my Panny GS400 has a Cinema mode too, and the results are very similar. The manual also describes the mode as giving a "cinematic look." To my eyes it mutes the colors, and perhaps lowers the contrast slightly. The Panny has three normal...

Re: Anyone have feedback on NIS 2011 ?

I also installed from within Norton. Couldn't have been easier. There were just a couple of my settings that didn't transfer correctly, but I wanted to go through them all to check anyway, so I caught them immediately. I see that there's now an option to automatically download a new version. It's ex...

Re: Earl

Looks like it's going to miss you nearly entirely Bobby, but other parts of NC further up the coast may see some significant storm.

Re: Test for my new Panasonic TZ10 HD Camera

TreeTopsRanch wrote:Great Video. I am jealous.

Can you upload to vimeo so that we can see in full screen?

After the video starts to play, click on the video window to open in YouTube. You can then select the resolution that you want and maximize to full screen.

Re: Earl

That's really incredible when you think about the amount of territory that's covered by that storm, even if it's not all 100+ mph winds.

Re: Last call to be a movie star

Now that there's funny... :CS:

You've got that down to a "T" Steve! :TU:

EDIT: The only thing that would have made this better would have been a fisheye lens. I'm imagining what it would have looked like as you leaned forward to emphasize your point!

Re: Ultra Panavision 2.89:1

So it does Steve. Very interesting. The ability to conquer problems like this, correcting and restoring digitally, is something we almost take for granted now -but it was such a short time ago that there was really no way to do such things.

Re: Ultra Panavision 2.89:1

Aha! Looks like you've got it Steve! I does make sense. I really was seeing "seams" but not the screen...it was the seams of the overlap of the projectors. Thanks. I can sleep tonight.

Re: Ultra Panavision 2.89:1

Thanks for the link Paul. After seeing this I think I have to go back to my original statement of Ultra Panavision 2.89:1. That wasn't one of the ratios shown in the video, but the imdb lists it for HTWWW. There are probably even more ratios than are shown in your linked video. I wish I could rememb...

Ultra Panavision 2.89:1

TCM is showing "How The West Was Won" in its original aspect ratio of 2.89:1 Ultra Panavision. Wow - you don't see that very often. In some of the outdoor scenes especially I notice two darkened areas, like slightly darkened blurred vertical streaks that are about one third of the distance...

Re: Is the ATI Catalyst Control Center Necessary?

Chuck, just to add a bit. The utility is not necessary, unless you want to tweak some of the more esoteric functions of the card. I remember one application that I had where I wanted to use a custom resolution that was not available through Windows. It took the utility to do that. As you probably kn...

Re: Buying a 'green screen'

Thanks Chuck and Peru. I was still trying to figure out what it meant to manually animate an object. I've got it now.

Re: Buying a 'green screen'

Okay, so I'm going to show my ignorance, but I'll never learn if I don't ask...

I understand the green screen, but what would be the point of being "invisible?" What kind of effect would you use the suit for?

Re: Moving Internet Explorer Favorites between computers?

The simplest way is probably to use the Import and Export wizard under the File menu. Export to a flash drive, then run it again from the new computer and import.
